Session

Open initiatives need open organisations

  • Time: 14h00-14h30
  • Location: 1. Louis Verhaegen
  • Level: Beginner
  • Type: Keynote

Just as apps require operating systems, so open projects and initiatives need open organisations. While we spend a lot of time thinking about open source software and open licensing, we don't spend enough time talking about open organisations. Let's explore what it means to be an 'open organisation' and how we can use them to improve both our initiatives, and the world! Along the way we'll discuss co-operatives, decentralisation, and how you can use 'trojan mice'...

Speakers

Hello I'm DOUG BELSHAW

I help people and organisations become more productive in their uses of technology. I'm currently splitting my time between leading the MoodleNet project and working with We Are Open Co-op. These days, I spend a lot of time talking about decentralisation, but I'm perhaps best known for my work on digital literacies. I'm an evangelist for digital credentials, most notably Open Badges. It was the original reason I joined the Mozilla Foundation back in 2012.
